Update Time! So the Vision Train's mushroom magic exhibition was an awesome experience! To share virtual space with some of the brightest stars in the visionary art movement, blew my mind! You can still see the show here!
I'm excited to announce the sale of 'Amanita Hysterical' True to the plan, we took the energy created and planted seeds to grow and develop this project! Some of the funds were invested into a selection of Eco-friendly Organic Cotton T shirts from Stanley/Stella. If you're looking into making Tees, they make going green easy and attractive and are well worth a look. It took a long time of searching to find the T-shirts that I loved to use in the past, so I was initially reluctant to change. We took a long hard look at the damage that the fashion industry is doing to our planet, resulting in a pledge to not be a part of that old system. As a community group, we take responsibility to do our bit, to normalise using some of the amazing new Earth-friendly alternatives. I've certainly been guilty of buying into the idea that 'eco' often equates to thin and flimsy but things have moved on! We searched for options that can still feel and look awesome but will have the added bonus that you're supporting real change from the (literal) ground up <3 With just a bit of searching, we found a company that shares our ethical standards and we took the plunge with this lovely bunch of coconuts.
Charl has been getting her hands dirty with screen printing, and is enjoying figuring out some tricks and techniques, ready to dive into this evolution of AHOD. To Celebrate this new chapter, we're creating a set of 'i.d.' Tees. Plain, bold coloured, and heavy weight; with a clean pocket-patch print of our mother globe. We've been wearing and washing a selection to see how the fabric and print holds up. So far so good!
In line with our original plan, to print the tees, we decided to start right from the ground up. In screen printing, we saw a chance to learn a versatile skill, that we could share and use to create a same-day print-on-demand service; something we're excited to explore!
All this is going to be housed in The AHOD Creation Space, in the Heart of Vere Street Tattoos, Cadoxton. VST has been undergoing a major overhaul over the last 7 months, Click here to visit the new website where you can see a compilation video of our progress! It's a perfect environment to house AHOD; With Creatives in-and-out all the time, we'll be cross-pollinating and sharing ideas in order to serve Creativity at higher and more novel levels.
We'll end with this shot of what the space currently looks like, it's been a happy wood workshop while we build the Studio, but it's nearly time to receive some TLC of it's own! Carefully covered under piles of materials, is the first set of furniture; tables, desks, draws, corkboard, ready to entertain the ideas, workshops and artefact creation, that are intended.
